How Demos are Processed at Reason II Rise: The Traffic Light System

At Reason II Rise, we pride ourselves on our unique and thorough approach to demo submissions, setting us apart from the norm in the music industry. Our system, known as the Traffic Light System, ensures that every submission is given the attention it deserves through a structured, transparent, and fair process.

The Role of Darren Porter: Our Gatekeeper

Darren Porter, our A&R Manager, plays a crucial role in this process. With his keen ear and extensive experience, Darren sifts through the influx of demo submissions we receive. His initial decision is the first hurdle a demo must clear. If he sees potential in a track and without making a sole decision, it moves to the next phase: the Traffic Light Voting System.

The Traffic Light Voting System

This is where our entire team of music enthusiasts, DJs, and producers come into play. The diverse makeup of our team ensures a non-biased approach to each demo evaluation. Here's how it works:

  • Green Light (Yes): If the majority votes green, it means the demo is approved and ready to move forward. This is the goal for every submission – a straightforward acceptance that your track is a great fit for Reason II Rise or Reason II Rise: Realms.

  • Amber Light (Possibility with Tweaks): If the majority vote is amber, it means the track has potential but requires some tweaks, edits, or improvements. Our team will reach out to the artist with constructive feedback on what could be improved. This feedback loop is crucial as it gives artists a chance to refine their work and resubmit. However, it's important to note that even after making the suggested changes, there's no guarantee of acceptance. The team might still pass on the track, but the process helps artists understand what we're looking for and prepares them for submissions to other labels.

  • Red Light (No): If the majority vote is red, it means the track isn't the right fit for us at this time. This decision, while disappointing, is part of maintaining our label's high standards and ensuring that every release aligns with our vision and quality.

Majority Rules: Ensuring Fairness

In our Traffic Light System, majority vote decides the final outcome. This means that even if there is someone who votes yes, the track will not move forward if the majority votes no and vice versa. This majority rule ensures that the decision is fair and representative of the collective opinion of the team, maintaining the integrity and quality of our selections.

Why Our System Stands Out

The Traffic Light System is so much more than just a method of processing demos and the biased opinion of one person; it highlights our commitment to nurturing talent and maintaining high standards. By involving a diverse group of evaluators and providing detailed feedback, we ensure that every artist gets a fair chance and valuable insights, regardless of the final decision. This meticulous process sets Reason II Rise apart, fostering a community of artists who understand and appreciate our dedication to artists. Our unique approach to demo processing is just one of the many ways we support artists from around the world.

No Short Cut Method

At Reason II Rise, we uphold a strict policy of fairness and transparency. If an artist approaches one of our team members directly with a track, there is no favouritism. Every demo, regardless of how it is received, goes through the same voting system. This ensures that every artist gets an equal opportunity, and decisions are made based on the quality and potential of the music alone.

Beyond the Vote: Support and Development

Additionally, we offer tuitions from our production services for emerging artists, helping them hone their skills and better understand music production. However, it is important to note that participating in our tuitions does not guarantee that your tracks will be automatically approved to be on the label. You are still free to submit tracks for consideration, and they will go through the same rigorous voting process as all other submissions. Our goal is to build long-term relationships with artists, providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.

Success Stories

Many artists who have gone through our Traffic Light System have gone on to achieve significant success. Our process has helped uncover hidden gems and transform them into chart-topping hits. We believe in the potential of every submission and strive to give each one the best possible chance to shine.
