In-depth & exclusive interview with Glacial Storm

Reason II Rise had the pleasure of interviewing the incredibly talented Trance producer, Glacial Storm, ahead of his upcoming release ‘Mercy’ on Reason II Rise Music.

Fabio Batti, the man behind the name Glacial Storm was born in Sicily and is currently residing in Rome since the early 2000s, Glacial Storm has been dedicated to creating uplifting melodies and captivating tracks that evoke strong emotions in the listeners and his passion for electronic music knows no bounds.

Tell us about your musical background and how you got into electronic music.

"I have always had a deep love for music from a young age. As a teenager, I discovered my passion for electronic music, and since then, I have never looked back. It was during this time that I started producing my own tracks, constantly exploring ideas and experimenting with different sounds."

How do you approach the process of creating a new track?

"For me, it all starts with a good melody. I always come up with multiple melodies, but I only continue working on a track when it gives me a strong emotion, usually euphoria. From there, I focus on developing the rest of the elements to bring the track to life."

Among all your songs, which one holds a special place in your heart? Why?

"This is a challenging question as I love all my songs for different reasons. Each track reminds me of the emotions I felt when I composed it. However, if I had to choose one, it would be my recent release, 'Mercy.'"

After nearly 20 years of making music, what is your ultimate goal as an artist?

"My primary goal is to evoke positive emotions in listeners through my music. I want to create an immersive experience that takes them on a journey of energy and euphoria. Music has the power to bring people together and uplift their spirits, and that is what I strive to achieve."

How do you differentiate your tracks and stand out in a competitive industry?

"Giving my tracks a unique identity is essential, but it's not always easy in a saturated market. I believe that powerful melodies are the cornerstone of my songs. I aim to create captivating melodies that resonate with the listeners and make them feel something special."

How do you overcome creative blocks when they arise?

"When faced with creative blocks, I find it helpful to take a step back and focus on something entirely different. I enjoy experimenting with new genres or sounds during these periods. It allows me to break free from the routine and keeps my creativity flowing."

Have you performed in any major festivals? Which one would be your dream performance?

"I have primarily played in clubs within my city and haven't had the chance to perform in big festivals yet. However, one festival that I've always dreamt of playing at is the Luminosity Beach festival. The energy and atmosphere there are simply electrifying."

What software or tools do you use for music production?

"I primarily use FL Studio for my music production. It provides me with the flexibility and versatility I need to bring my ideas to life and Spire is my favourite plug-in for sound design."

How would you describe your music genre? What makes it unique?

"I consider my music to be uplifting trance. It combines the energetic and euphoric elements that characterize trance music with my own personal touch. I aim to create a fusion of captivating melodies and powerful beats that transport listeners to a higher state of mind."

Are there any emerging artists that you admire?

"I have tremendous respect and admiration for No-So, NG Rezonance, and N-Sking. I believe they have a bright future in trance music production and can make a significant impact in the industry."

Who have been your biggest musical influences?

"I have always been a lover of melodies, I loved trance and progressive music from the very first time I listened. But, the first ones who have influenced me were artists like Gigi D'Agostino, Mauro Picotto (and in general all the BXR artists). I also really appreciate the sounds of Cosmic Gate, Kai Tracid and Ferry Corsten."

How does it feel to be part of the Reason II Rise Music family?

"It is a beautiful achievement, and I am immensely proud to be part of the Reason II Rise Music family. Working with Darren Porter, whom I consider one of the best trance music producers in the business, is a true honor."

Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring artists?

”Try not to copy the work of big names and be as creative as possible. If making music makes you feel good, never stop making it.”
